CINCLUS cINCLUS

An ongoing photographic project documenting White-throated dippers on a Cumbrian river.

The White-throated dipper (Cinclus cinclus), also known as dipper or European dipper, is an aquatic passerine bird found alongside swiftly running rivers, streams and lakes throughout the UK. They acquire their name from a bobbing motion they do when perched, not from their diving habit. The dipper was the first subject Daniel photographed when he started his wildlife photography journey, and he’s decided to focus on them for his first photography project. Once finished, his hope is to have a body of work to showcase, as well as highlighting the dangers their habitats, rivers and freshwater environments are currently facing.
